I am blessed to be a member of the All Saints Catholic Gospel Choir!! I get to sing my praises out and beyond every Thursday at rehearsal for 70 minutes AND at each Sunday’s 11 am Mass!! Thanks to Arlene Skwirowski, the choir director who brought Gospel music into the Catholic Church system back in the early 1980s, I am able to praise God through singing my HEART out with our GOSPEL choir each week!
Gospel music is so down to earth and practical because it allows one to praise GOD in season and out of season—from receiving a CLEAN HEART “as we follow Him” to “He woke me up this morning—started me on my way! Hey!…gave me a brand new dawning—gave me a brand new day! Hey! It’s a mighty good day to praise the Lord”—all of this occurring powerfully and joyfully in the now moment!!
What can I say that will make this clear to you? The beauty of Gospel music is that it is so REAL and ATTAINABLE that you just can’t keep it to yourself—you want to share it with EVERYONE!! And share it, we do—especially as choir director Sheila gets everyone in church to join in and sing with the choir!!
