Here I am again!

Thank you God for another great day!

We have a great Black History Month gig coming up next week with our Catholic Gospel choir leading the way! Our choir director Sheila B will be leading the way in a marvelous narrative about the particulars from slavery to FREEDOM…through the struggle of Blacks in America and all the musical Graces that have blessed the world…Jazz, the Spirituals, the Blues, improvisation being the cornerstone that characterizes all of African American influence!!
This wonderful program will feature many of our soloists and tons of harmonics that is sure to “bring down the house” as we praise God with our strong voices accompanied by piano and percussion!!

The African American struggle has so blessed our world! Without this great music—if Blacks had not applied music to their everyday life and our world had not experienced the saving Grace of this music…well…to put it quite frankly, the Black experience in America could never have occurred! I mean, this music is so basic and broad-reaching that the miracles of musical enrichment would just never have happened!!

I was blessed to play jazz trombone from 8th grade through my college years! Jazz is my favorite form of music and the Blues have accompanied me through many a challenging day of my life!

It is going to be a grand occasion to sing in this Black History Month presentation!! My life is enRICHed and affirmed by the Black influence and I am ever so grateful to be blessed as a member of the All Saints Catholic Gospel Choir!! TUJC…thank You Jesus Christ!! And as the Gospel song proclaims, “Gotta keep movin’—movin’ on (X3)…gotta keep movin’ till the day is done!” Amen!
