So I found myself with the age-old question again today…”What is the purpose of this life I lead?” On my neighborhood walk in my great friend Sandra’s part of town, I came upon THE stop sign…as one heads out of her neighborhood is a stop sign—one I have engaged with for the past 15-or-so years…
You see, THIS IS THE STOP SIGN I would walk past every time I took my walk—it is the stop sign in which I created 2 of my favorite acronyms:
STOP = Stand Tall & Offer Praise, as a reminder that I have a loving God who is on my side forever…and
STOP = Struggles Transforming into Opportunities of Promise!! THIS acronym has been very helpful to me for many years…
Longstoryshort, I decided tonight was the night I would go thru my wallet to see if I had any appointment cards that I needed to pay attention to. It just so happens that I proudly carry my “RISE ABOVE” card…you see, RISE ABOVE is a youth motivational program created by the CAF Redtails Squadron — the TUSKEGEE AIRMEN!! … the African American fighter pilots who escorted allied bombers—often B-17s—over German in World War Two. They just happened to be the best trained and lethal pilots in WWII—known for the red tails on their P-51 Mustangs…
Sandra was instrumental in helping me stoke the fire to some past dreams I had had about seeing if we could get the RISE ABOVE educational program to come to Wisconsin. We looked online and found all kinds of important leads for me to look into—and discovered a song that seems to have been written especially of the RISE ABOVE Program also!!
This all came out of one viewing of the cards I keep in my wallet! I am so grateful that God led me—with assistance from Sandra—to beginning a project of seeing if we could get the RISE ABOVE educational program to make an appearance in Wisconsin. It’s my opportunity to “LOOK AHEAD & FLY RIGHT!!’’
