Honestly

April 17, 2026

My counselor Brad and I have done a lot of soul searching in the past year as I seek MY MEANING OF LIFE—kind of the old cliche topic of random counseling, I know, but this topic really has substance for me.

Over the course of many months of sessions, conversations, I have come to the conclusion that my different and varied forms of writing seem to be paramount in my search for self. A few years ago, I completed a memoir entitled 55 REFLECTIONS OF A SEARCHING SKEPTIC (available on Amazon) which chronicles my faith journey, and my journey with mental health challenges. And I am in the mix of writing another memoir which will get people up to date on my journeys.

I’ve got to share my happy feelings lately of NOT having to deal with suicidal ideation, SI, which I have been plagued by over the years—starting in my senior year of high school and at many other times in my 63 years. I am grateful for 988–the crisis and suicide folks—who take calls from people who are struggling with the feelings of leaning towards ending their life.

I have decided to give up on trying to find out WHY I get suicidal, and just focus on overcoming these dreadful feeling by sharing my struggles with others in my NAMI Group (National Alliance on Mental Illness) who are always there at 10 am Saturday morning to share with. I also value the feedback from my counselor Brad and from my 20 years relationship with my psychiatrist, Dr. Sprung—who has been exceptionally helpful, kind and understanding!!!

Then I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters who have played an exceptional role in helping me in living a triumphant life! And my many great friends like Sandra, Lisa and Paul who I have ample constructive time with!

I keep a journal on my phone also. For numerous years, up until recently, I have written and collected som 16,000+ pages of journaling and scrapbooking! Oh yes—WRITING is a huge part of my sanity and doings.

I think God daily for these relationships tight others and with my authentic self! I especially love writing this BLOG and am so happy to share my travels with you here.
