My x-wife Sandra was the focal point for this Mothers’ Day!
First, yesterday we two celebrated with Sandra’s youngest daughter M…M works at the deli and in produce at a local grocery store extrordinaire called Meijer’s. M had the day off and we three went to NORDSTROMS at a nearby mall.
Sandra had one simple plan…to go to the lotion and perfume section and smell a few new scents. Ironically, her sniffer wasn’t working! She could still taste food but couldn’t smell a thing!!! Sandra wished for something as simple and basic and BAM it could not happen!
So we went to the NORDSTROMS restaurant and order a wonderful lunch, with salmon and avocado/chicken sandwiches and tomato bisque soup…it was a fantastic spread!
Later we watched some TV and just laid back and enjoyed the evening! It was a great celebration with M and Sandra! Then, today, Sunday, Mothers’ Day Sandra and I attended the 7:30 am Catholic Mass at All Saints, went. Back to her place for 9:15 Scripture discussion and headed back to All Saints for the 11 am Gospel Mass…While I went in and sang my heart out, Sandra did her prayer rituals in the car.
Then we went to get some POPEYES chicken, which took a long time to order…and went back to Sandra’s pad again to devour the chicken and rice and beans. It was a meal to remember!! Sandra got phone calls from each of her 3 daughters, cherished times of sharing WHAT’S UP around the Melcher home. Later, in the evening, Sandra and I enjoyed pot roast beef sandwiches — from a homespun pot roast recipe Sandra concocted. Oh we had some GOOD EATIN’ today!!
IT TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY FUN AND MEMORABLE MOTHERS’ DAYs for Sandra who was such a delight to be around. I thank You Jesus for this special woman…yes we are divorced but we are great friends and spend a lot of time enjoying the simple things in life together. Thank you God for such a great friend!!!
